Montabert was founded in 1921 by Joannes Montabert as Montabert S.A, as a manufacturer of pneumatic equipment.
Montabert is based in the Lyon area of France and is the undisputed worldwide leader for the design, production and distribution of hydraulic, pneumatic, demolition and drilling equipment for use in construction and civil engineering projects, mining and quarrying. At their state of the art manufacturing premises at Saint Priest, Montabert employs 350 people and has a turnover of €90 million, with 85 % of their products being exported worldwide, to more than 110 countries.

Montabert has always shown a great sense of innovation, always striving and succeeding in their goal to be at the forefront of technology, with the introduction of the first hydraulic rock breaker in 1969 and more recently in 1987 the first hydraulic rock breaker with automatic variation of energy.

Montabert’s success can be attributed to many areas including a first-class Research and Development Department, created in 1949, which has been continuously improving and expanding, equipped with the latest technologies and benefiting from the best resources, technical as well as human. Also their state of the art machining centres, a sophisticated Heat Treatment Department, a Quality Department equipped with high precision devices providing reliability and durability for products and last but not least, the members of their dynamic worldwide distribution network, in charge of sales and after-sales service, have been an instrumental part of their success.
