DEVELON has added the new DX300LC-9 to its Series 9 excavator range. The 32 tonne crawler excavator is the fifth model in the series, sitting between the DX260LC-9 and DX360LC-9.

For contractors planning a new excavator for earthmoving, drainage or infrastructure work, it adds another size to consider. Check how its digging performance, attachments and assistance systems fit the work you have lined up.

DEVELON DX300LC-9: the key specifications

The DX300LC-9 uses DEVELONโ€™s DX08 engine and fully electronic hydraulic control. This replaces conventional mechanical pilot controls and forms the basis for the machineโ€™s control and assistance technology.

DEVELONโ€™s launch specifications include:

  • Machine class: 32 tonne crawler excavator.
  • Net engine output: 207 kW at 1,800 rpm, measured to SAE J1349.
  • Maximum digging depth: 7,305 mm with standard front equipment.
  • Maximum digging reach: 10,530 mm with standard front equipment.

Use these figures as a starting point. The boom, arm, bucket and attachment package should be checked against your required working depth, loading height and lifting duties. DEVELON has also announced the DX300SLR-9 for applications that require a super long reach configuration.

Visibility and working boundaries

A 360 degree Smart Around View Monitor camera is standard. Available safety technology also includes human detection, DEVELON E-Stop and Virtual Walls. E-Stop can automatically stop swing or travel when a person is detected in the defined danger zone. Virtual Walls allow electronic working limits to be set around the machine.

These features support the operator alongside the siteโ€™s working procedures. Before choosing a specification, discuss the areas where your machine will work, nearby structures, pedestrian routes and how operators will be familiarised with the systems. Ask Kellands to confirm the safety equipment included in your quotation.

Choose assistance systems around the job

Optional equipment includes Advanced Lift Assist, 2D guidance and machine control, and condition monitoring through DEVELONโ€™s Prognostics and Health Management system. Guidance can be upgraded with compatible optional 3D systems.

Focus the specification discussion on the jobs the machine will actually do:

  • Repeated digging to a level: explain the required accuracy and your existing surveying setup before choosing guidance equipment.
  • Attachment work: list the breakers, grabs or other attachments you plan to use so hydraulic requirements and controls can be checked.
  • Lifting: provide the load weights, working radius and site conditions so the correct configuration and lifting charts can be reviewed.
  • Moving between sites: include transport dimensions, machine configuration and access restrictions in your planning.

The cab also features a large touchscreen and customisable joystick controls. During a specification review, consider how different operators will set up the machine and change between attachments. View DEVELONโ€™s DX300LC-9 product information.

Plan the support as well as the machine

When comparing a new excavator, ask about routine service requirements, access for daily checks and the parts needed for planned maintenance. If you are considering condition monitoring, establish what is monitored, how alerts are received and who will act on them.

Kellands can help with service enquiries and genuine DEVELON parts. For an existing machine, have the model, serial number and operating hours ready when contacting the team.
